Monet’s Participation in Exhibitions

1856 Monet’s caricatures are exhibited in a shop window attracting the attention of Boudin, who teaches him the art of painting out of doors.

1865 two of Monet’s seascapes of the Seine estuary were exhibited at the official Paris Salon

1866 exhibits Camille ou La Robe Verte at the official Paris Salon

1868 exhibits one painting at the official Paris Salon

1871 Durand-Ruel exhibits Monet’s paintings

The Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors and Engravers
1st Impressionist Exhibition (though they were not yet referred to as Impressionists. It was art critic, Louis Leroy, who reviewed the art show as an “Exhibition of Impressionists” inspired by Monet’s Impression: Sunrise who gave the group their identity.)
